Tracy Van Houten
NASA Rocket Scientist turned political candidate
Tracy Van Houten is an activist for women and minorities in STEM and an engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, currently working on the Mars 2020 rover. She recently set her sights on an Earth-bound mission: running for Congress in a special election in Los Angeles to give science and reason a much-needed seat at the table in Washington.
Why she marches
It is critically important, perhaps now more than ever, for science to play an active role in our communities, our education, and our politics. I'm excited to join with science advocates around the country this Saturday to celebrate science accessibility and promote evidence-based public policy as a part of our national discourse.
